Open European Championship
The Open European Championship is the largest of the EGC tournaments. Everybody who has registered for the Congress can participate. Players of all ages from all over the world are welcome. You are free to enter each round separately.
In 2018, more than 800 players from nearly 50 countries and regions participated in this tournament, among them 200 dan players and a few professionals. The winner was Yoon Namgi.
Players eliminated from the European Championship can join this tournament. All games of the European Championship besides the 4th round and the two rounds on the weekend 27th/28th of July count for the Open European Championship.
The top 2 boards will be broadcasted on KGS by EuroGoTV and EuroGoTV.
Official EGF ranked tournament level A. 10 round McMahon, Japanese rules, 6.5 komi. Top bar will be arranged according to player rank distribution and number. Main time depends on the higher ranked player as follows:
>= 4 Dan: 2h30 + 3x60 seconds Japanese Byo-Yomi
3 Kyu – 3 Dan: 2h00 + 3x40 seconds Japanese Byo-Yomi
< 3 Kyu: 1h30 + 3x30 seconds Japanese Byo-Yomi
